The Nvidia RTX 4090 is the most powerful GPU in the world, and it went on sale on Wednesday, October 12… then promptly sold out. To make sure you don’t miss out when the GPU goes back in tock, our live blog will show you all the places where to buy the RTX 4090.

We loved the GPU in our Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 review, with our US Computing Editor stating that the “Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is an absolute unit of a graphics card that features an astounding gen-on-gen performance jump without a proportional jump in price.”

So, if you want the very best GPU you can buy right now, it looks like the RTX 4090 is the one to get. Let us help you track one down.

OK we are live! And it looks like there is still plenty of RTX 4090 stock out there! Let’s take a look at the best offers.

Nvidia has a range of RTX 4090 on offer in both the UK and the US.

This includes Nvidia’s own RTX 4090 Founders Edition, though at the time of writing, it appears to be out of stock in the UK. When it is in stock, It costs £1,699.

Annoyingly in the US, Best Buy has SOLD OUT of RTX 4090 GPUs.

Micro Center also has no RTX 4090 GPUs to buy online. HOWEVER, it does have some available in its physical stores. The Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming Overclocked Triple Fan 24 GB GDDR6X PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card for example costs $1,699.99.

B&H also seem to have sold out in the US, though the ZOTAC GeForce RTX 4090 Trinity OC Graphics Card for $1,649.99 is available to pre-order, so you may be able to snag it if you act fast.

The ZOTAC GeForce RTX 4090 Trinity OC Graphics Card is one of the best looking third party 4090s in our opinion, so this is a good shout for people who want to show off their gaming rig.

Back over in the UK, Scan has RTX 4090 GPUs on the site, but no way to purchase them. This means they may be out of stock.

We’ll keep an eye on Scan – maybe there’s been a glitch and the ability to buy these GPUs will go live in a bit.

ASUS GeForce RTX 4090 TUF 24GB GPU is available to buy at CCL in the UK! Costs £1,699 – and there’s limited stock, so go go go!

The more expensive Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING 24GB OC GPU is also in stock, but costs £1,899. It’s over clocked out of the box, though, so you’ll get better performance, at least.

Finally, over at CCL, the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24GB OC GPU is in stock for £1,999.99.

That might just be the most expensive model of the RTX 4090 we’ll see. Again, it’s factory overclocked to boost performance.

I’ve found an RTX 4090 in stock in the US! Be quick! ASUS TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 for $2,605. OK that’s expensive, but it’s in stock, whereas others aren’t.

Forget that – here’s a much better one! MSI GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Video Card RTX 4090 GAMING TRIO 24G for $1,599 and it’s in stock!

The ASUS TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition at $1,799.99 is also in stock, but it’s selling out fast.

Here it is in all its glory. This may be your best bet to get an RTX 4090 in the US at the moment.

OK, I’m feeling pretty good about this now I’ve found some RTX 4090s in stock in the US. Don’t hang around if you want one though, as they may sell out FAST.

Over in the UK, I’ve checked Novatech, which is a good place to get components (and PCs) – but it doesn’t look like its RTX 4090 deals have gone live yet. This means they may not have sold out, and keeping an eye on them could help you snag one once they go live.

OK I’m struggling to find more RTX 4090 stock in the UK. Overclockers UK is all sold out, but it’s selling a desktop PC with one in. Back with the RTX 3090, this was the best way to get hold of the rare GPU.

Overclockers UK has the OcUK Gaming Germanium Z7 for a hefty £4,999. It’s an incredibly powerful PC, however, with the Intel i7 13700KF Sixteen Core Processor,  64GB DDR5 Memory, and all-important Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU.

Over at Scan in the UK, the PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB XLR8 VERTO keeps coming in and out of stock, so keep an eye on that. Costs £1,919.99.

Just checked Currys in the UK, and the RTX 4090 is out of stock there. Damn.

You can at least ask for an update when stock comes back in.

It looks like stock of the RTX 4090 is rapidly running out in the US now, so these updates may be a little slower.

Newegg has one model in stock – the ASUS TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, but it’s $2,525, well over the usual price. If you’re desperate, you may want to go for this, but I’d recommend holding on until more stock comes in, lowering prices.

Sorry, US folks; it looks like the RTX 4090 is out of stock just about everywhere, save one atrociously price-gouged $2,249 Zotac Trinity model. For the record, we’d advise against buying this one – the seller only has three ratings on Newegg.com.

That Zotac card another seller (Corn Electronics) with a much more palatable 13,801 customer reviews, but they’re selling it for a whopping $2,499. Our recommendation? Subscribe to a few different retailers for notifications once stock becomes available again, and wait to pick up this GPU at or close to MSRP.

Over in the UK, the situation isn’t any better. We couldn’t find a single retailer with RTX 4090 stock; once again, sign up for stock notifications if you’re desperate to get your hands on this new GPU.

Demand exceeding supply was always to be expected with the RTX 4090, but in the wake of the Ethereum Merge we’d hoped to see stock last a little longer. At least we shouldn’t see the same extent of lengthy restocking periods and aggressive scalping that plagued the RTX 3000 series.

Nothing yet from any of the reputable retailers, unfortunately. Nvidia’s own site is still listing ‘buy now’ buttons for certain models, but they just lead to external sites with no stock.

Various RTX 4090 models are cropping up on eBay in both the US and UK. Some are listed as ‘Buy It Now’, with inflated prices in the $2,200-$2,500 range. Others are subject to bidding wars that drive the price even higher.

Given the slew of scams that took place around the RTX 3090 launch, we’d generally recommend avoiding these unless you’re 100% confident that the seller is legit. You don’t want to drop two thousand bucks only to receive a block of wood in the mail.

It’s a brand new day, and… the RTX 4090 is still out of stock basically everywhere. The third-party retailer situation in the US has grown even worse; sellers on Newegg are now listing the card for upwards of $3,000.

To be clear: don’t spend that much on it. We promise you can wait. If you’re willing to go a bit above MSRP, there are 4090 units selling on eBay in the $1,800-$2,000 range, which is slightly more reasonable. Be sure to thoroughly vet the seller first, though, to avoid getting scammed.

The UK folks aren’t faring any better, unfortunately. None of the main retailers have stock; the eBay situation is even worse than in the US, with cards selling for as much as £3,000. The only way we’ve found to buy a 4090 right now is to purchase a £5,000 Germanium Z7 custom gaming PC from OverclockersUK, which contains the treasured GPU. We have to admit it’s not a bad deal if you want a whole new gaming PC.

It is worth noting that the RTX 4090 launch has seemingly triggered some price reductions in the RTX 3000 GPUs; for example, the RTX 3090 FE is currently available on Amazon UK for £1,199, £200 below its original RRP. Even these cards seem to be selling out fast, though.

If you’re very lucky, you may have received an invite to the Verified Priority Access Trial. This is a scheme where Nvidia sends out direct invites through the GeForce Experience desktop app, which contain a unique URL for you to purchase a reserved RTX 4090 Founders Edition card.

This scheme takes place via Best Buy in the US and Scan.co.uk in the UK, and requires you to have a GeForce Experience account linked to a system with an active Nvidia GPU.

There’s no word on what criteria Nvidia is using to determine who gets an invite; it could be based on the GPU in your system, or the amount you use your graphics card, or it might just be entirely random. In any case, maybe open up GeForce Experience to check if you’re one of the lucky few!

OK, I’m going to go on the hunt again and see if there are any stock in the US and UK…

It’s looking pretty bleak out there in the US, with Best Buy still out of stock. When it comes to Micro Center, you can’t buy any RTX 4090s online, and while most stores are out of stock, there are a few with some models still in stock.

For example, the Micro Center in Brentwood, Missouri, has two Zotac Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO Triple-Fan models in stock. If you live nearby, you could pick one up for $1,699.99. It’s worth checking out all the models of 4090 Micro Center stocked to see which ones may be in stock at a nearby store. It’s a long shot, but it might be your best bet.

Over on B & H, most RTX 4090 models are out of stock, but you can pre-order the ZOTAC GeForce RTX 4090 Trinity OC Graphics Card for $1,649.99.

There’s no indication of when the stock will come in, but it may be worth putting a pre-order down anyway.

Hmm, Newegg has stock, but it’s the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4090 Trinity OC for a ridiculous $3,199.

I wouldn’t recommend buying that at such an inflated price. It also ships from China, so could take up to 32 days to get to you – in that time, you might find a 4090 for almost half the price.

Over in the UK, stock is similarly low. Overclockers UK has one model in stock – the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC – but at £2,189.99, it is again being sold for well over MSRP. So, unless you’re desperate, we wouldn’t recommend it.

Well folks, if you were hoping that the weekend would bring a wholesome replenishing of RTX 4090 stocks, we’re sad to report that is not the case. Neither US nor UK retailers have any current availability, meaning that your only option is to hit every ‘notify me’ button you see, then wait.

Sure, you could fork over upwards of $2,000 to a shady seller on eBay for one of these GPUs, but we say it’s not worth the risk. There’s an oddly high number of RTX 4090 cards being sold (sometimes at weirdly low prices) out of Albania – avoid these like the plague. Seriously, we’ll feel bad if you drop two and a half thousand bucks only to receive a box of rocks.

We’re a bit concerned about the stock situation of the upcoming RTX 4080, too – since Nvidia’s backtrack on selling the 12GB model of that card, stock could be even more limited once the 4080 hits shelves.

Still no proper restocks, unfortunately. The wisest bet right now might be to drive out to the most remote computer hardware store you can find and check if they have any 4090s still on the shelves. Inner-city retailers have seen ridiculous queues encircling the premises, so you’re not likely to find much luck there.

The scalpers are naturally still at it. The only RTX 4090 we could find in the US outside of eBay was a Verto OC XLR8 model from PNY, from an independent seller on Newegg with a whopping 1 customer rating. They’re selling it for just shy of double the MSRP, which sucks tremendously. We’ve also spotted some cropping up on AliExpress, but, well… don’t buy a graphics card off AliExpress.

Things are, however, looking marginally better in the UK. We spotted a Palit GameRock OmniBlack RTX 4090 for £1,900 on LaptopsDirect, with a few other Palit cards at higher prices. It’s not one of our favorite brands, but Palit is legit enough if you’re willing to settle for not having GPU from a big-name manufacturer.

Less reputable was the Zotac 4090 we found for £1,984 on a website called BrookPad.com. A little online research found that BrookPad is a Chinese company that makes toilets, and runs a side hustle where they advertise a tonne of sought-after products with outrageously long delivery times (540 days!!) then push you toward sketchy Amazon links while making it as difficult as possible to get a refund. Avoid.

You can still get an RTX 4090 if you’re willing to shell out for a whole new gaming PC, mind you. CyberPowerPC has a pre-built PC with the GPU and a shiny new AMD Ryzen 7950X processor, while Scan has a similar desktop with the 7900X. Bear in mind that these PCs are usually built-to-order, so there may be a waiting period after you buy one.

Another day, another lack of RTX 4090 stock. The only individual card we were able to find for sale in the US was the same PNY Verto OC model on Newegg, for a perfectly (un)reasonable $2,969. Avoid.

However, pre-built gaming PCs packing RTX 4090s are very much available for order. Origin PC has the Neuron, Millenium, and Genesis models available (starting at a seriously cheap $2,877, though you’ll likely want to upgrade the other components which will drive up the price) while iBuyPower also has some options that can be customized and ordered today.

Over in the UK, CyberPowerPC‘s Infinity 129 and Ultra R79 models can currently be configured with the RTX 4090, and Scan has 3XS models with the GPU too. Both start at around the £4,000 mark. Of course, most of these gaming PCs will be built to order, meaning that you may have to wait a little while to receive your new system.

Of course, it should go without saying that you shouldn’t drop thousands of dollars or pounds on an entirely new PC if you just want an RTX 4090. If you’ve already got a solid gaming rig that just needs a new GPU, your only recourse right now is to be patient.

We’ve got stock! Not much stock, mind you. Best Buy, Amazon, and B&H don’t have any RTX 4090 cards to speak of, but there are some popping up on Newegg – though admittedly at ludicrously expensive markup.

Micro Center is listing the GPU as ‘available for in-store collection’, but the vast majority of stores appear to be completely out of stock. At the time of writing, it looks like the Mayfield Heights location in Ohio has some stock, but don’t expect that to last long.

With Black Friday 2022 closing in, we’re not likely to see any big restocks until after all the last-minute deals from Cyber Monday have washed out. Nvidia is looking to shift remaining stock of its 1600-, 2000-, and 3000-series GeForce cards right now, although this does mean that you might be able to snag a great deal on a slightly older (but still great) GPU.
